In The Interest Of Record Keeping

2 late, quick reviews before heading up to Watkins Glen.  Phish @ Bethel Woods 5/28/2011 and Grace Potter/My Morning Jacket @ Mountain Jam 6/5/2011.

Phish @ Bethel was perfect - best venue I've been to besides the Gorge.  Insane show, Cities, Runaway Jim and Gin were Set 1 highlights, not to mention a Theme opener - maybe the best possible song to open a summer night show; Set 2 brought a smoking DWD>Free and a sweet Bowie, a song I've recently come around to.  And it was a no-stop set which is always huge.  Pics will tell the rest of the tale...and I will be back to Bethel asap.

Set 1

Theme From the Bottom

Halley's Comet>
Runaway Jim

A Day in the Life

Mountain Jam was also a blast...aggressive day trip but absolutely worth it.  Grace and the band killed it, unbelievable show and probably the best one I've seen.  Ah Mary opener was awesome, Oasis was probably the highlight for me...Stop The Bus weaving in and out of the GTBT intro, as well as Paint It Black laced into Sugar...lot of jamming which is great to see.  2:22 with Warren speaks for itself.

Ah Mary
Oasis
Only Love
Goodbye Kiss
Good Times, Bad Times (tease) > Stop The Bus
2:22 w/ Warren Haynes

After a bit of a break we returned to watch MMJ from the stage...an experience I'll never forget.  It was a non-stop show and the energy was high from the start.

Cube Pipe

Powell sent along this insane video...I've seen a competition in this pipe (non-chopped up), perfect setting under the Palisades at Squaw.  Can't imagine what it was like to stand at the top of this thing:

This video isn't too normal either:

The Night Before Christmas

Phish fan fears forces Monticello to close schools

BETHEL - Phish has closed Sullivan County’s largest school district.

Monticello schools have decided to close Thursday and Friday – the Friday date specifically to avoid problems on 17B when throngs of people are anticipated for a three-day Phish festival at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.

“We have kids in Bethel and we have lots of teachers and staff,” Interim Superintendent Ed Rhine said. “We would have been adding to the problem.”

Rhine said that the district was contractually obligated to return two snow days and the Friday seemed like an obvious choice.

County officials are predicting at least 17,000 people at the concerts and potentially thousands more during the Memorial Day weekend.

He said he met with the county and town officials, who are predicting heavy traffic beginning Friday.

Rhine said the unions had no problem taking the days off.

I Almost Forgot It's May

That means being able to see Phish live this month, finally...cannot wait
